Paramount Moving Forward With A New 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Live Action Movie

We have known for a while now that Paramount has been developing a new live action reboot for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but today we got some very exciting new information. They have begun negotiations with a director to helm the project. Find out all the details below.

Variety is reporting that the studio is in talks with director Jonathan Liebesman to direct the reboot. Liebesman most recently directed last years Battle: Los Angeles and directed next months Wrath of the Titans. A month or so ago writers Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol) were hired to write the new Turtles movie. Paramount has teamed with Platinum Dunes (yes Michael Bays company) to develop the project.

I basically have conflicting feelings on this report. On one hand I am ecstatic at the idea of having a new live action Ninja Turtles movie. The fact that this will likely be a movie on the scale of something like Transformers is something I never could have begun to hope for. Yet on the other hand Liebesman essentially has never made a movie I have enjoyed, in fact I hate almost his entire filmography. Battle: Los Angeles certainly had some impressive imagery, so maybe he can bring that sensibility to this project. Couple that with the fact the the writers of the latest Mission Impossible are writing and we could just yet have a great film.

Stay tuned for more info as we get it!
